How can I help?

Honoku is a personal reading tracker for iOS. Think of it as a beautiful, private library where you can:

• 📚 Log books you're reading, want to read, or have finished
• ⏱️ Track your reading sessions with a built-in timer
• ✍️ Save your favorite quotes and write reviews
• 📊 See your reading stats and habits over time
• 💰 Optionally track what you've spent on books

It's designed for readers, by a reader. No ads, no social pressure, no algorithms telling you what to read.

You have three ways to add books:

1. Scan the barcode — Tap the + button, then the barcode icon. Point your camera at the ISBN code on the back of any book.
2. Search by title or author — Tap the + button and type the book name. We'll search a database for the cover and details.
3. Add manually — Tap the + button → "Manual entry" and fill in the details yourself. You can even take a photo of the cover.

The reading timer is a focused session tracker. When you start reading:

1. Open the book in Honoku
2. Tap "Start reading session"
3. Lock your phone and read — the timer keeps running
4. When you finish, tap stop and enter how many pages you read

On iOS 16.1+ you'll see a Live Activity on your lock screen showing the timer in real time. Pretty handy.

Yes! Honoku works fully offline. You can add books, track reading sessions, write reviews, save quotes — all without internet. When you're back online, everything syncs automatically.

Free gets you all the core features:

• Track unlimited books
• Reading sessions with the timer
• Reviews and ratings
• Basic statistics

Premium unlocks the deeper stuff:

• Advanced reading projections (when you'll finish each book)
• Cover scanner with OCR
• Quote scanner — point your camera at a page and save the text
• Full historical analytics
• Detailed spending tracker
• All future Premium features at no extra cost

Two options:

• Monthly: US$ 3.99 / month
• Annual: US$ 24.99 / year (saves about 48%)

Prices may vary slightly depending on your country and applicable taxes. Payment goes through Apple — I never see your card details.

Two ways:

From Honoku: Profile → Manage subscription

From iOS Settings:

1. Open the Settings app
2. Tap your name at the top
3. Tap "Subscriptions"
4. Find Honoku and tap "Cancel subscription"

Your Premium features will keep working until the end of the current billing period. After that, you go back to the free version (but you keep all your data).

All refunds go through Apple, not me — that's how the App Store works. To request one:

1. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com
2. Sign in with your Apple ID
3. Find your Honoku purchase
4. Tap "Report a Problem" and follow the steps

If Apple denies your refund and you feel something was unfair, email me — I'll see what I can do.

Usually this is a sync issue. Try this:

1. Open Honoku → Profile → "Restore purchases"
2. Wait a few seconds
3. Premium should activate

If that doesn't work, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you used to purchase the subscription. If you're still stuck, email me with your purchase receipt and I'll sort it out manually.

When you open Honoku for the first time, you can sign in three ways:

• Sign in with Apple (recommended — most private)
• Sign in with Google
• Email + password (classic)

Whichever you choose, your data syncs across all your Apple devices using the same login.

If you signed up with email and password, tap "Forgot password" on the login screen. You'll get a reset link in your email.

If you signed up with Sign in with Apple or Google, there's no password to remember — just use the same sign-in method again.

As long as you're signed in with the same account on each device, everything syncs automatically. Changes you make on your iPhone show up on your iPad (and vice versa) within a few seconds when you're online.

If something looks out of sync, pull down to refresh your library — usually that fixes it.

You can permanently delete your account from inside the app:

1. Open Honoku
2. Tap Profile
3. Scroll all the way down
4. Tap "Delete my account"
5. Follow the 3-step confirmation (type "DELETE" at the end)

This is permanent. All your books, reviews, quotes, and stats will be gone within 30 days. There's no recovery.

If you've subscribed to Premium, remember to cancel that separately through iOS Settings — deleting the account doesn't cancel the Apple subscription.

Right now, full data export isn't built into the app, but it's on my roadmap. If you need your data before that feature ships, email me — I can manually send you a JSON file with your library, sessions, reviews, and quotes within a few days.

First steps to try:

1. Force-close Honoku (swipe up and flick the app away)
2. Reopen it — usually that solves transient bugs
3. If it crashes again, restart your iPhone
4. Make sure you're on the latest version (check the App Store)

If the crash is persistent, please email me with:

• Your iOS version (Settings → General → About → iOS Version)
• Your iPhone model
• What you were doing when it crashed

I'll prioritize the fix and let you know when it's released.

Book covers come from online sources, so if you don't have an internet connection they won't load. Once you're back online, just open the book and the cover should appear.

If a specific cover is wrong or missing, you can replace it:

1. Open the book
2. Tap "Edit"
3. Tap the cover image
4. Choose a new photo or take one yourself

Live Activities need iOS 16.1 or later. Check yours in Settings → General → About → iOS Version.

Also make sure Live Activities are enabled:

1. Settings → Notifications
2. Scroll down to "Live Activities"
3. Make sure it's turned on

If you have an iPhone with Dynamic Island (15 Pro or newer), the timer will also show there.

Sessions are saved automatically when you stop the timer. If a session seems missing:

1. Pull down on your library to refresh
2. Check the book's history (open the book → "Session history")
3. Check if you're using a different account on this device

If you're on the free version, only the last 5 sessions per book are stored. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited history.
